‘Volkswagen, one of the best-known and most powerful companies in the world has deliberately misled the public. When I was asked to sit in the Supervisory Board, I did not hesitate for a long time: I think it is a sympathetic initiative towards the European VW consumer, who in my view is entitled to compensation. In the first place, deceived VW drivers are entitled to adequate financial compensation for the damage suffered; their vehicle has become less valuable. In addition, it could very well be that you are limited in your freedom of movement, as more and more European cities are banning diesel cars out of their inner cities. Furthermore, I can imagine that consumers are concerned about the environment. Enough reasons to participate in this collective claim. With more than 25 years of legal experience, as a member of the Supervisory Board, I want to track the lawsuit and provide advice to the, very capable, legal team. What would be a good process strategy if Volkswagen does not voluntarily provide compensation for its victims. And on which arguments should we emphasize. Everything to get Volkswagen to budge from it current standpoint.
